Perfection takes time...and I don't have any of it!
Another monthly substack post because I LOVE ya’! Thanks for remaining subbed, just now getting subbed, THINKING about the sub or eating a SUB! We’re your biggest fans!
So let’s talk about the elephant in the room.
I’ve been slipping.
Now let me be clear: I’ve been as active as I normally am and have been very much reachable by many who have sought me out. What I mean by slipping is:
Indie comics took a stark back seat for a month.
And that’s what we call a “break”.
These last few months have been very tiring and active in my family. The biggest one being my daughter has graduated from high school and is preparing for university in the Fall. We’ve been situated with that for so long; I eventually took time (and resources) to give that attention and to also CELEBRATE because that’s pretty big! While doing so, I fell into one of those lulls of deprivation and well
I’m a month off the mark from launching Kill the Idol, Save the Girl.
It was supposed to launch last month, but at the same time I realized I don’t have a real schedule, or at least not one that I could have fully committed to. Most of that was because I took a new job in the past 2 months that has me working different hours than I’m used to, with less downtime to complete any type of extra comic work I would normally do.
We’ll figure it out. We always do!
So I say all this to say: It’s okay to take breaks and walk away from the indie comics hustle. There is no real rule or set of guidelines other than to work and create great stories! If you can do one book a year, then you can do one book a year! Don’t get caught up trying to plot and manage several books when you know your limit. And pay no attention to people that can because they’re probably fighting worse demons than you! Go at your own pace!
Thanks for reading, and just a reminder: Kill the Idol, Save the Girl is launching THIS WEEK (hopefully)! Follow the prelaunch now so you don’t miss out! Comment below with your favorite indie superhero!
